Gracelawn Memorial Park, central Maine’s first garden cemetery, was established in 1937 as a not-for-profit corporation. In 1950, Gracelawn Memorial Park established Maine’s first crematory, and in the early 1960’s, Gracelawn constructed Maine’s first community mausoleum.
For decades, Gracelawn Memorial Park has maintained its standards by providing families of central Maine with comprehensive cemetery and crematory services of the highest quality.
Since 1948, Gracelawn Memorial Park has been a family operated not-for-profit business. From 1948 to 1973, the Charles Warner family managed Gracelawn; from 1973 to 1995, the N. Edward Chapman family; Dan and Diane Fuller and family managed Gracelawn from 1995- 2014.
On August 1, 2013, Scott Fraser was appointed executive director, carrying on a Gracelawn family tradition. For several decades, Gracelawn was fortunate to have the Sargent brothers, Charlie and Mark, on the staff. From 1992 to 1994, Scott worked in the cemetery under the direction of his two uncles, Charlie and Mark. In 2005, after serving in the United States Navy, Scott returned to Gracelawn, and in 2010, Scott was appointed Director of Buildings and Grounds. Now, with all of this previous Gracelawn experience, Scott will oversee the entire operation of Gracelawn Memorial Park
